Pensacola Lower Body Lift
A lower body lift, sometimes referred to as a belt lipectomy, is a procedure to raise and reshape unsightly, sagging body contours. During the aging process, skin loses some elasticity, causing the mid-section to lose its natural shape and firmness. This procedure is designed to remove loose skin and associated fatty deposits to provide a more youthful and shapely appearance. A lower body lift provides improvement of the abdomen, lower back, outer thighs, and buttocks. Liposuction may also be completed in conjunction with a body lift.
Reasons for Considering a Lower Body Lift in Pensacola
Reshape the contour of the mid-section
Correct sagging skin and fat due to aging, pregnancies, and weight fluctuations
Remove stretched skin
Correct drooping buttocks
Lower Body Lift Procedure by your Pensacola Plastic Surgeon
A lower body lift is performed under general anesthesia and typically requires an overnight stay in the hospital. The precise procedure varies with each patient, depending on the body type and desired surgical outcome. Generally speaking, the body lift procedure entails an incision that goes all of the way around the body. This is necessary to create the desired change in the abdomen, back, thighs, and buttocks. The incision is placed low so that it may be easily concealed in clothing. The abdominal muscles are tightened as they are in a tummy tuck. The thighs and buttocks are lifted. Occasionally, Dr. Shaddix is able to use some of your own tissue to augment the buttocks at the same time to provide further refinement to your figure. Once all of the excess skin and fat is removed, the tissue are redraped and the incision is closed with absorbable sutures that do not need to be removed. Drains will be placed to collect any excess fluid, and they are typically removed within a week of surgery.
Recovery After Lower Body Lift in Pensacola
A restful week is advised after undergoing a lower body lift. Compression garments are applied after surgery, and Dr. Shaddix advised that they be worn under you clothing for one month removing them only to shower. You will have some discomfort, but this is typically well controlled with the medication prescribed by Dr. Shaddix. The scars resulting from the incisions are permanent but are carefully placed so as to minimize visibility. As with all surgery at Shaddix Plastic Surgery, you will given detailed before and after surgery instructions, and Dr. Shaddix will be available to answer questions and guide you along the way.
