Brow Lift

in Pensacola, FL

What is a Brow Lift?

Through the years, the brows begin to droop causing you to look tired, sad, or even angry. Frown lines and wrinkles are often some of the first signs of facial aging because of frequent facial expressions like laughing, smiling, and frowning. Many patients can successfully reduce their forehead wrinkles with Botox treatments. However, when the brow needs to be raised to restore a youthful appearance, a brow lift or forehead lift is more appropriate.

Brow lift surgery helps to smooth frown lines and wrinkles, reposition the eyebrows, and correct the hooding of the upper eyelids, in turn, softening the facial expression to make you look more youthful and awake. This procedure is beneficial for patients of all ages in need of forehead rejuvenation.

I was so happy with my experience and outcome as well. Dr. Shaddix has a calming manner (which I really needed), is so professional and really listened to what I wanted and the result is amazing and natural looking - very proportionate to my body just as I had hoped. I highly recommend him”

Your Customized Brow Lift

Dr. Shaddix offers a variety of brow lift techniques to help you achieve your individual goals for facial cosmetic surgery. These include specialized, less invasive techniques using endoscopic instruments as well as limited incision techniques where all incisions are hidden behind the hairline. The technique used during your brow lift procedure will depend on the extent of your aging and your goals for results. A brow lift can also be combined with eyelid surgery (upper eyelid lift) or facelift surgery for even more dramatic rejuvenation.

The Procedure

Brow lift surgery is normally performed under general anesthesia, and you can typically go home the same day. Every brow lift is performed on a case-by-case basis requiring a careful preoperative assessment to ensure that your specific aesthetic preferences are understood. Several factors will determine the appropriate type of procedure for you. These include the position of the hairline, the degree of drooping of the eyebrows, and the amount of excess skin and wrinkling.

For a closed brow lift, the endoscopic approach with a minimal incision may be employed in instances where there is not much excess skin to be removed. If this is not the case, an open approach or temporal brow lift may be used. The brow is lifted and forehead tissue excised directly, all with incisions carefully placed to be hidden at or behind the hairline. Some of the muscles causing the furrows of the brow are disrupted or removed to provide a longer-lasting result. Each method is tailored to give the appropriate elevation at the area of the brow where you need it most.

Recovery After Brow Lift

About Shaddix Plastic Surgery

Discomfort during brow lift recovery is normally minimal and easily controlled with medications prescribed by Dr. Shaddix. Immediately after surgery, bandages will be placed to reduce swelling and bruising. You can perform light activities the day after surgery but should plan for a week of rest away from work. Normal activities can be resumed after 1-2 weeks. You should avoid strenuous activity for about a month as your new brows continue to heal. Keeping your head elevated after surgery will help minimize swelling.

Sutures placed at the time of surgery are usually absorbable. Any permanent sutures used are usually removed about a week after surgery. As with all surgery at Shaddix Plastic Surgery, you will be given detailed before-and-after surgery instructions, and Dr. Shaddix will be available to answer questions and guide you along the way.

Brow lift results last for years but are susceptible to natural skin aging. If you receive a brow lift in your 30s or 40s, a secondary brow lift in your 50s-70s may be needed to maintain results.
