Pensacola Rhinoplasty, Nose Job, and Nose Reshaping
The nose is the central point of the face. When it is not in harmony with the rest of the facial features, it stands out. It also, likely, leaves you unhappy with your overall appearance. Nose surgery, also known as rhinoplasty or nose job, is a cosmetic surgery procedure that can reshape and sculpt the nasal tissues to give an more attractive look. Any number of nasal deformities can be addressed with rhinoplasty. These include a large nose, a crooked nose, a bulky or boxy tip, or a nose with a hump - just to name a few. Rhinoplasty continues to be one of the most popular plastic surgery procedures performed in the United States.
Rhinoplasty surgery is performed in one of two ways. There is the open approach where a small incision is placed at the base of the nose as well as inside the nose. The other option is the endonasal procedure which differs mainly in that the incision at the base of the nose is avoided. Both techniques are available at Shaddix Plastic Surgery, and your particular situation will help dictate which is best for achieving your aesthetic goals.

Nose Reshaping and Rhinoplasty Procedure by your Pensacola Plastic Surgeon
Rhinoplasty surgery is usually performed under general anesthesia. You will be able to go home the same day as surgery in most cases. Small incisions are made within the nose and sometimes across the base or columella. These incisions allow exposure of the underlying nasal support structures of cartilage and bone. Each portion of the bone and cartilage can be expertly manipulated by Dr. Shaddix to reshape all portions of the nose. Many times a segment of the septal cartilage will be used to make grafts that help to further refine the nasal shape.
Recovery following Rhinoplasty in Pensacola
Following rhinoplasty surgery, you should plan on a restful week. During this week, you will have a splint placed on the outside of your nose. Dr. Shaddix, in almost all cases, is able to avoid placing nasal splints internally as they can be very bothersome to patients. The external splint will be removed one week after surgery. All sutures are absorbable so there are none to remove. If you wear eyeglasses, you should consider using contacts during your recovery. If you cannot, you will have to suspend your glasses off of your nose for approximately three weeks after the splint is removed if the bones were adjusted. The discomfort after rhinoplasty is typically well controlled with the medication prescribed by Dr. Shaddix. Swelling after rhinoplasty can be pronounced. You should keep your head elevated to decrease the swelling in the first few days. Though much of the swelling will resolve within a month or two, it may take a full year to reach your final result. As with all surgery at Shaddix Plastic Surgery, you will given detailed before and after surgery instructions, and Dr. Shaddix will be available to answer questions and guide you along the way.
