What is a Chemical Peel?
A chemical peel is a cosmetic treatment that can improve some of the most common skin concerns including early signs of aging. A chemical peel works by causing the outer layers of the skin to peel, revealing new, healthier skin underneath.
I was so happy with my experience and outcome as well. Dr. Shaddix has a calming manner (which I really needed), is so professional and really listened to what I wanted and the result is amazing and natural looking - very proportionate to my body just as I had hoped. I highly recommend him”

Candidates for a chemical peel are those who experience poor skin tone or texture, age spots, sun spots, hyperpigmentation, or fine lines. A chemical peel can refresh the skin for rejuvenation and a younger appearance. At Shaddix Plastic Surgery, we offer several different types of chemical peels which we individualize to each patient depending on their skin type and treatment goals. Peels range in strength to treat any severity of skin concerns.
The Treatment Process
To begin your treatment with a chemical peel, the skin will be cleansed and prepped. The appropriate chemical peel strength will then be applied to the skin. The solution will be left on the skin for a short period of time to ensure it penetrates the skin effectively. The discomfort you feel during this time will depend on the strength of the peel. A deep peel may involve more stinging during the treatment process. The skin will then be neutralized and cleansed to remove the chemical peel solution and a moisturizer will be applied to calm the skin.
Recovery and Results
Your recovery after a chemical peel will depend on the strength chosen. For a light or medium peel, no downtime is required, and you will experience some stinging, redness, and swelling similar to a sunburn. For a deep peel, you may want to take a few days to rest and recover. A dressing will be applied to protect the treated skin and you may be given medication to help with discomfort. For any type of chemical peel, it is important to avoid sun exposure while the skin is healing.
In the next week, your treated skin will begin to peel. You will then begin to experience smoother, clearer skin underneath. Once fully healed, you can enjoy the results of your chemical peel with diminished blemishes and improved tone and texture. The chemical peel is effective with one session and can be repeated in the future to maintain your smooth skin.
At Shaddix Plastic Surgery it's a very laid back, low pressure environment where my goal is to educate, and not to sell.”
