What is Restylane?

Restylane is an injectable treatment within the Restylane family of dermal fillers. This treatment uses hyaluronic acid to add volume underneath the skin and correct nasolabial folds. It can also be used to non-surgically augment the lips. Hyaluronic acid is a substance found on the skin that retains moisture and can be naturally absorbed into the body over time. In a crystal-clear gel form, it can effectively restore volume that is commonly lost during the aging process that creates wrinkles and folds.

Your Customized Restylane Consultation

Dr. Shaddix offers a wide selection of dermal filler options and can determine the best one for your intended results during a consultation. You can also ask any questions you may have during this time, and Dr. Shaddix can give you the best idea of what to expect from your treatment. You should also be able to describe what you would like to change and what you hope your results will look like in order for Dr. Shaddix to create the best treatment plan for you and your goals. This may include skin or surgical treatments for best results.

The Procedure

As with all of Dr. Shaddix’s injectable treatments, this procedure begins with a topical anesthetic so that you’re comfortable and relaxed during the injection process. Dr. Shaddix then uses a very fine needle to shape the treatment area with multiple, small injections underneath the skin. Overall, injectable treatments can take between fifteen to thirty minutes, depending on how extensive the treatment is. Dr. Shaddix can ensure you have an idea of how long the treatment will take and how much product will be required.

Recovery After Restylane Treatment

Although you can expect some bruising or swelling at the injection site, you can return to your normal activities immediately. If needed, you can treat any discomfort with the use of an ice pack. Restylane can last for up to eighteen months with a single treatment, and Dr. Shaddix will make sure to discuss your options for touch-up appointments or other long-term solutions.
