Buttock Augmentation
in Pensacola, FL

What is a Brazilian Butt Lift?

Buttock enhancement has gained great popularity over the past decade as women seek to sculpt their gluteal region and harmonize their figure. Buttock enhancement is an excellent option if you are concerned with having a flat bottom or an unshapely figure.

The Brazilian Butt Lift uses your own fatty tissue to shape your buttocks for an entirely natural enhancement. First, Dr. Shaddix uses liposuction to remove fat from other areas of your body. The fat is then purified and strategically placed to contour your buttocks, giving a lifted, full, and youthful appearance. By removing tissue from stubborn fatty areas with the liposuction process, the entire figure is reshaped and contoured. When the waistline is decreased and the buttock region filled out, a very sensual and feminine body shape can be achieved.

Your Customized Brazilian Buttock Lift

During a consultation with Dr. Shaddix, you will discuss the details of your cosmetic goals and determine whether you are a good candidate for buttock augmentation surgery. You should be in overall good health and able to undergo and recover from surgery. Dr. Shaddix will assess your medical history and perform a thorough examination before helping you develop a surgical plan. If you meet the following criteria, you will likely be a good candidate for buttock augmentation:

  • Desire to increase the size and improve the shape of the buttocks
  • Figure lacking feminine curves
  • Flat, sagging, or generally unappealing appearance of the buttocks

It is also recommended to be at a healthy and stable weight since future weight fluctuations or weight gain can compromise your results. If you still have weight loss plans or are not at a healthy enough weight, you may not be a good candidate. Additionally, buttock augmentation does not address stretched or excess skin. If excess skin is a concern, you may need to combine your procedure with a body lift.

The Buttock Augmentation Procedure

Buttock augmentation procedures are performed under general anesthesia and patients normally go home the same day as surgery.  For Brazilian Butt Lift patients, the areas of excess fat (typically the abdomen, back, or thighs) are marked for liposuction. The fat is then removed and carefully prepared before being placed into the buttocks through multiple tiny, hidden entry points.

How Dr. Shaddix Approaches BBL Safety

A BBL moves your own fat from areas like the abdomen, flanks and back to the buttocks. The most important safety rule in BBL surgery, recommended by national plastic surgery safety task forces, is to place fat only in the layer above the muscle, never into it.

  • Fat is placed above the gluteal muscle only
  • Dr. Shaddix uses ultrasound guidance while placing fat
  • Dr. Shaddix decides how much fat can be safely transferred for each patient
  • Surgery is performed under general anesthesia, provided by the practice’s certified registered nurse anesthetists (CRNAs)

Recovery Following Buttock Augmentation

Patients should plan for at least one week of rest to allow for recovery. Patients may generally return to work after this time, but must still avoid strenuous activities. It will be important to avoid direct pressure to the buttocks for several weeks after surgery. You may be asked to wear a special compression garment. Some discomfort after surgery is typical, but this can be controlled with the medications you will be given. Dr. Shaddix will provide you with detailed before-and-after surgery instructions and will be available to answer any questions you may have along the way.

BBL Recovery Timeline

Timeframe What to expect
Weeks 1–2 Rest, short walks, compression garment on. No sitting directly on your buttocks; use a BBL pillow under your thighs. Many patients return to desk work in 1–2 weeks, once they feel up to it, sitting on the BBL pillow.
Weeks 3–4 After about 3 weeks, you can put your full body weight on the buttocks again. Most patients are cleared to return to exercise around this time.
Weeks 6–8 Compression garment phased out.
3–6 months Swelling settles and the final shape shows. Some transferred fat is naturally reabsorbed in the first months.

Are You a Good Candidate for a BBL?

  • Enough fat in donor areas (abdomen, flanks, back or thighs) to transfer
  • A BMI of 30 or under, at a stable weight you plan to keep
  • A non-smoker, or able to stop well before and after surgery
  • Good overall health and realistic goals for size and shape

Because a BBL uses your own fat, it’s a natural, long-term alternative to implants, with the added benefit of body contouring. See real results in our BBL before-and-after gallery.

We encourage you to give us a call to schedule a consultation to find out if you would be a good candidate for buttock augmentation in Pensacola, Florida.
