Facelift For Men
in Pensacola, FL

What is a Male Facelift?

A male facelift, also known as a rhytidectomy, is a facial plastic surgery procedure that provides the ultimate facial rejuvenation. It is an incredibly powerful procedure that, when done skillfully, can rewind the clock so that you look like a naturally-younger version of yourself. This procedure is able to address many of the concerns you may have about your aging face by tightening and lifting tissues that have fallen during the aging process. By doing this, male facelift surgery can smooth wrinkles and improve the jawline with the correction of jowls. Perhaps most importantly, a well-done male facelift completely addresses the aging features of the neck, including excess skin and fatty deposits under the chin. A neck lift may also be a beneficial procedure to combine with a male facelift to address severe drooping neck skin and horizontal neck bands.

Some of the most popular reasons that men undergo male facelift surgery are:

  • A presence of jowls or loose skin along the jawline
  • Looking older than you feel
  • The descent of facial tissue or hanging skin, making you look tired
  • Deep lines
  • Facial volume loss
  • Sagging skin of the neck with wrinkles that gives away your age

Your Customized Male Facelift Consultation

Plastic surgery is no longer exclusive to women, and men are becoming one of the fastest-growing patient demographics in the industry. This is because many male patients are realizing they would like to look as good as they feel. If you feel younger than your face would have others believe, you may be a good candidate for male facelift surgery at Shaddix Plastic Surgery. Dr. Shaddix understands that men have different aesthetic goals than their female counterparts, which he takes into account when performing male facelift procedures. As a skilled facelift surgeon, Dr. Shaddix’s highly specialized technique address both the skin and the underlying muscles of the face to produce dramatic yet natural-looking results while maintaining a masculine appearance. It is sometimes helpful to bring a picture of yourself from 10-15 years ago to your consultation so Dr. Shaddix can assess your individual aging trajectory. Often, a facelift may be combined with other facial rejuvenation procedures such as brow lift or eyelid surgery for a refreshed appearance. At your consultation, board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Shaddix will be able to examine your face and discuss your concerns to decide upon the best plan to help you put your best face forward.

The Procedure

Male facelift surgery is done under general anesthesia or IV sedation. During the facelift procedure, incisions are placed around the ear and into the hairline so that they are easily concealed. The skin of the face is then pulled away from the underlying facial tissues so that they can be manipulated and suspended in a higher, more youthful position using special sutures. The skin is then placed back down to cover the newly-contoured face with any excess skin being removed to address laxity or sagging. Care is taken at all times to avoid a pulled or stretched look when redraping the skin. In patients where there is separation of the neck musculature or excess fat under the chin, a tiny incision can be made in the crease just under the chin to address these issues. The incisions are then closed with small sutures. As Dr. Shaddix performs your male facelift, the goal of providing a completely natural look is behind everything he does.

Upon occasion, a patient may be a candidate for a mini-facelift where the incisions are limited and less tissue is dissected, although it still follows the same technique as a traditional facelift. This is appropriate for patients with only early visible signs of aging that are not in need of dramatic rejuvenation. The recovery period is easier than that of a traditional facelift procedure as well.

Dr. Shaddix is by far the best surgeon out there. Not many physicians take the time to address all of your questions or concerns, but he does. I was extremely impressed by his ability to see what I was asking for, let me know what would work best with my body and then make it happen. The end results are phenomenal. Thank you Dr. Shaddix!”

Recovery After a Male Facelift

Depending on the severity of your procedure, you may be allowed to go home after your facelift surgery, or you may need to stay the night. Following your procedure, Dr. Shaddix will wrap your face with a special bandage to limit swelling and reduce the amount of bruising that occurs. This dressing will be removed on the morning after surgery. A restful week should be planned after a facelift, and keeping your head elevated will help minimize postoperative swelling and bruising. Very small drains may be placed at the time of surgery and can be removed the day after. Sutures are typically removed one week after surgery. Resulting scars will fade over time. There can be some mild discomfort after a facelift that is easily managed with the medication prescribed to you by Dr. Shaddix. As with all surgery at Shaddix Plastic Surgery, you will be given detailed before-and-after surgery instructions regarding male facial rejuvenation, and Dr. Shaddix will be available to answer questions and guide you along the way.
