Am I Ready for the Facelift Procedure?
If you have noticed that your face has started to have noticeable signs of aging, then you’ve probably started thinking about different options to combat them. As we age, our skin starts to lose elasticity which can cause lines, wrinkles, and creases to form. Often our skin loses volume to create a depressed, hollowed look. At this point, you may start looking for ways to get your youthful look back. One of the most popular options is a facelift procedure. But are you sure you are ready to undergo a facelift? At Shaddix Plastic Surgery, Dr. Shaddix makes sure to discuss all possible treatment options with his patients before moving forward with any procedure. If you are considering a facelift procedure, determining if the surgery is right for you will be the first step in your journey.
Treatment Options
If you have moderate sagging, wrinkles, or fine lines on your face, these could be remedied through some of the injectable and other non-surgical options offered here at Shaddix Plastic Surgery. Some patients who are looking for an improved appearance aren’t ready to get surgery and can benefit from treatments that do not require a complex procedure. Some of the non-surgical options we offer are Botox, Juvederm, and more. These are injectables that are used to stop the formation of wrinkles and fine lines as well as plump up or smooth out the skin. These are great if you are starting to notice the formation of these visible signs of aging allowing you to be proactive. If you already have advanced degrees of sagging and wrinkles, then a facelift procedure will be more beneficial. The best way to determine whether your best option is a facelift or injectable treatment is a consultation with Dr. Shaddix.
What is a Facelift?
The facelift procedure helps take years off your appearance by removing excess skin and tightening the facial tissues. This way you get a smooth look. The facelift, also known as rhytidectomy, is performed under general anesthesia or IV sedation, depending on your preference. Small incisions are placed around the hairline and ears so that Dr. Shaddix can remove excess skin and reposition the facial tissues to a more youthful position. If you are wishing to look a decade younger, this surgery is a great option.
What are the Benefits of a Facelift?
Although there are many other treatment options that can help you get a youthful appearance, these don’t give the same results as a facelift. There are many benefits to getting a facelift, such as:
- Tightens Skin
- Improves Facial Contours
- Smooths Out Fine Lines and Wrinkles
- Long Lasting Results
- Contours the Chin and Jaw
Ideal Facelift Candidates?
If you have been considering getting a facelift done, the first step is making sure you are a good candidate for this procedure. You may need a facelift if you have sagging skin, deep creases in the skin, loss of fat, and loose skin under the chin and jaw. Before this procedure, you must be in good health as well as be realistic about what this procedure can do for you.
